Kuku 23
Living in Vienna's art & culture quarter
A new residential complex has been built along Gastgebgasse in Liesing (Vienna's 23rd district) in the Atzgersdorf neighbourhood, in the immediate vicinity of the Sargfabrik (coffin factory) cultural centre (former factory 1230) and the Atzgersdorf education campus. Four residential blocks and the studio building offer space for 430 subsidised flats, workshops, studios, a bakery, and a dance and music school on an area of 34,000 m².
Kuku 23 was developed with the aim of providing low-threshold cultural offers, especially for children and young people.
The buildings are divided into individual ‘houses’, visually separated by naturally lit joints. This allows for diverse roof landscapes and better lighting conditions.
